BCPWHO (Business Continuity Planning Workgroup for Healthcare Organizations) is the healthcare industry's membership organization exclusively focused on providing leadership in the advancement of business continuity, disaster recovery and emergency management through collaboration and research. Founded in 2005 BCPWHO represents nearly 100 individual members from healthcare institutions across the United States and Canada. As we continue to grow our goals are to:

• Develop the science and technique relative to the continuation of business activity and operations in the event of a disaster.
• Create a scholarly community in which professionals and investigators from around the world can introduce new work for peer review and discussion.
• Influence policy, management, and education of operational continuity and disaster recovery for academic and nonprofit healthcare organizations.

The mission of BCPWHO is to engage our colleagues in business continuity and disaster recovery planning for academic and nonprofit healthcare provider organizations, for educational and collaborative consultative opportunities. To accomplish this mission, BCPWHO provides:

(a) Access to the sciences and techniques applicable to the continuation of business activities and operations in the event of disaster events affecting healthcare organizations.

(b) Forums and communication platforms for academic and nonprofit healthcare organization practitioners and professionals the opportunity to collaborate and disseminate best practices.

(c) Access to current and proposed policy and educational curriculum applicable to business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis and emergency response for peer review and discussion.
